The Jungle Book Made $300 Million on their Opening Weekend

My movie ticket was worth it. During the movie, both adults and children clapped their hands at least 3 times even though most viewers knew the movie’s plot beforehand. I’ve seen parents jumped from their seats and I’ve heard kids cheer for Mowgli. From the precise and realistic CGI version of almost all character (but Mowgli, played by Neel Sethi) to the simplicity of a classic story-telling, Favreu’s version of The Jungle Book is a triumph movie.

Director, Jon Favreu, did a wonderful job with connecting the spark between parent’s childhood story to their children’s new favorite Disney classic.

The CGI effects were so realistic that even I started wondering which one is live. It turns out that all the animals are CGI. The distinctive voices of the characters added to the emotions that the audience felt, thought and imagined. It’s almost like someone is actually reading the book.

We have Bill Murray as Baloo the Bear who gave the audience more thanΒ  a few chuckles; Idris Elba as Shere Khan who gave you the sense of fear; Scarlet Johansson who made it believable that Mowgli can be seductively hypnotize.

Not to mention, Christopher Walken as King Louie who gives you a mobster and leader type of feel; Ben Kingsley as Bagheera who makes you feel safe and protected; Giancarlo Esposito as Akela who delivers a strong and trusting leader; and Lupita Nyong’o as Raksha who delivers a caring and loving mother.

However, the most impressive one of all is Neel Sethi as Mowgli. He connected with everyone and he made you enter his world. He ran, jumped, climbed, cried, fought, smiled, laughed, and made you see Mowgli the way you always envisioned him to be when you read the classic book version.

The Jungle Book worldwide total just for their opening weekend is $294.1M and can easily pass $300M today. I have no doubt that it will be a favorite for both parents and children. I give this movie a 5 star rating.
